The two-week summer course Marine Biological Diversity – An Exploration of Hong Kong’s Rich Coastal Ecosystems introduces participants to the science of ocean biodiversity and its vital role in sustaining healthy ecosystems. Through a blend of lectures, fieldwork, and hands-on workshops at the Swire Institute of Marine Science (SWIMS), students will explore Hong Kong’s unique coastal habitats, identify marine organisms, and assess environmental stressors such as pollution and climate change. Participants will gain practical research experience, learn biodiversity survey techniques, and develop an informed understanding of marine conservation challenges across local and global contexts.
