
This module aims to promote gender equity, diversity, and awareness among students. It explores a wide range of contemporary issues through the lens of gender, including body positivity movements, ‘leftover women’, Black Lives Matters and AI. Students will examine how gender operates differently in individuals, communities, and institutions. They will develop stronger sensitivity to gender stereotypes and inequalities in daily lives, popular culture, and world issues. This course will introduce basic gender studies concepts including sexism, heteronormativity, and intersectionality. It will allow students to debunk gender myths in everyday lives and equip them as future leaders in a more diverse community. Students will have the opportunity to collaborate with each other to advocate gender equity for their capstone projects. Research workshops and interactive activities are designed to equip students with skills and knowledge in researching gender matters.
