This course will cover three different timely topics in macroscopic and microscopic fluid mechanics: aerodynamics, urban flow, and microswimmers. In the first part, we will discuss fundamental ideas in the design of flying machines, and hands-on practice on aerial challenge will follow. In the second part, we will discuss the role of fluid mechanics in in our daily life from potable water to flows over cities. Visits, from indoor built environment to outdoor natural landscape, will be arranged if feasible. In the third part, we will discuss biofluid mechanics for swimming micro-organisms and micro-robotics, and their potential biomedical applications. Training on microscopy will be provided.
